Tom Cruise tops 2012 Forbes list of highest-paid actors

1 of 11: Tom Cruise is No. 1 on Forbes' 2012 list of highest-paid actors. The financial news outlet, which released its annual roster on July 3 - his 50th birthday, said he earned about $75 million between May 2011 and May 2012.

During that time, he appeared in the movie 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol,' which made at least $693 million worldwide. He also served as a producer. His next movie, 'Rock of Ages,' was released in June 2012 and was a box office flop - earning some $47 million worldwide - less than its estimated production budget of $75 million.

Days before he turned 50, his third wife Katie Holmes, mother of his 6-year-old daughter Suri, filed for divorce.

Cruise was No. 10 on Forbes' list in 2011. The outlet said that between May 2010 and 2011, he earned about $22 million.
