2 of 14: Actor Colin Firth took home the Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of King George VI in 'The King's Speech.' The actor has also been involved with several charitable organizations, including Survival International which defends the rights of tribal peoples and Oxfam's Make Trade Fair campaign.

"There are two Colin Firths, who live symbiotically within each other," actress Helen Mirren wrote in Time magazine. "First is a man of principle, action and compassion, who fights for the powerless. Second is a beloved actor in Britain and an international film star. The two sides of Colin, 50, inform each other."
