Jamie Foxx was nominated for 'Best Supporting Actor' for his role in 'Collateral' but it was his portrayal of the legendary popular singer/pianist, Ray Charles, in the film 'Ray' that won him his first Academy Award for 'Best Leading Actor' in 2005. The film traces the life and career of the famous musician, first with his struggles growing up blind and black in South then his battles with addiction during his rise to fame. Foxx is the second man in history to receive two acting Oscar nominations in the same year for two different movies. The first to do so was Al Pacino.
