Robert De Niro earned a 2013 Oscar nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in 'Silver Linings Playbook,' which scored a total of eight nods. The film is also nominated for Best Picture.
'I am very pleased that the Academy has chosen to honor the many individuals who were a part of 'Silver Linings Playbook,'' De Niro said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly on Thursday, January 10.
This marks the 69-year-old actor's seventh nomination. He previously won two Academy Awards, one for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for the 1974 film 'The Godfather: Part II' and the second for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in the 1980 film 'Raging Bull.' He was also previously nominated for roles in 'Taxi Driver,' 'The Deer Hunter,' 'Awakenings' and 'Cape Fear.'
