3 of 10: The title of the song 'Smells Like Teen Spirit,' came from ... the writing on the wall.

Kurt Cobain drew inspiration for the title after one of his friends, Kathleen Hanna, the lead singer of the group Bikini Kill, spray-painted the words 'Kurt smells like Teen Spirit' on a wall inside his Seattle home.

While the expression 'the writing on the wall' eerily means 'future doom or misfortune,' 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' was most commercially-successful single from Nirvana's 'Nevermind' album.
