Johnny Depp comes in at No. 10 on Forbes' list of Best Actors For The Buck. He was No. 8 last year. Studios make $12.48 for every dollar he is paid - down from $18 in 2010, the magazine says.
In 2011, he reprised his role as the pirate Jack Sparrow in 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,' Disney's fourth film in the hit franchise. The movie earned more than $1 billion worldwide. The entire series has so far made more than $3.7 billion. Later in the year, he played the part of his real-life friend Hunter S. Thompson for the second time on the big screen, this time in 'The Rum Diary,' which earned more than $20 million worldwide but failed to meet its $45 million production budget. Depp can be seen next in '21 Jump Street,' based on the 1980s cop series that made him famous. He has a small role in the movie, which is set for release on March 16, 2012 and stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. Check out a trailer here.
In 2012, Depp can also be seen in the movie 'Dark Shadows,' directed by longtime friend and colleague Tim Burton, and in 'The Lone Ranger,' based on the hit western series. The new film adaptation stars Armie Hammer from 'The Social Network' as the title character, while Depp plays his Native American companion, Tonto.
