Rachel Weisz, an Oscar winner, earned a 2013 Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama for her role in the film 'The Deep Blue Sea.' It marked the only nod for the movie.
The film is set in 1950 and was directed by Terence Davies. Weiz plays a woman named Hester Collyer, who cheats on her older husband, a British high court judge, and becomes involved in a passionate love affair with a troubled British military pilot who fought in World War II. He is played by Tom Hiddleston.
'I am deeply grateful for this nomination, and in particular, for the HFPA's recognition of the hard work and passion that Terence Davies brought to this wonderful British indie,' Weisz said in a statement. 'I am thrilled that this nomination might allow his beautiful work to reach a larger audience.'
This is the actress' second Golden Globe nomination and her first for a leading part. She won both a Golden Globe and an Oscar in 2006 for her supporting role in the film 'The Constant Gardener.'
