'Zero Dark Thirty' earned four Golden Globe nominations - Best Motion Picture - Drama, Best Director for Kathryn Bigelow, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama for Jessica Chastain and Best Screenplay for Mark Boal.
The movie depicts the hunt for Osama bin Laden, who masterminded the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, and his killing by Navy S.E.A.L. Team 6 in May 2011. Chastain plays a CIA agent who leads the search for the al-Qaeda terrorist leader.
'It's an honor, sincerely, and very humbling to be singled out this way by the HFPA,' Bigelow said in a statement. 'We're grateful, and encouraged by their support, especially since our film has such a diverse, international cast, and as the HFPA represent so many countries across the globe. And a big congratulations to the amazing Jessica Chastain and my producing partner and screenwriter Mark Boal.'
This is Bigelow's second Golden Globe nomination. She earned her first nod in 2010 for her film 'The Hurt Locker,' another military movie, for which she won two Oscars - Best Achievement in Directing and Best Motion Picture.
