Jennifer Lawrence was nominated for a 2013 Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical for her role in the 2012 film 'Silver Linings Playbook.'
She is up against Emily Blunt ('Salmon Fishing in the Yemen'), Judi Dench ('The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,') Maggie Smith ('Quartet') and Meryl Streep ('Hope Springs').
This marks Lawrence's second Golden Globe nomination. She earned her first in 2011 for her role in the movie 'Winter's Bone,' for which she was also nominated for her first Oscar.
'Wow. I'm so lucky, because the Hollywood Foreign Press have been so supportive of the work I've done thus far, now honoring with me a second Golden Globe nomination,' Lawrence said in a statement.
'Silver Linings Playbook" is such a beautiful film, and David O. Russell wrote and directed an incredible screenplay featuring characters that skew off center, have extreme ups and downs, and are so nuanced,' she said. 'I am grateful to be part of it, and for the opportunity to do this role. And now, to be in a category of other talents - Meryl Streep, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and Emily Blunt - who have also portrayed independently minded and driven female characters ... that's very cool.'
The actress plays a widow who falls in love with her bipolar neighbor, portrayed by Bradley Cooper, who wants to reconnect with his ex-wife. She enlisted her brother's help to prepare for her role and also auditioned via Skype -- which marked the first time director David O. Russell had used the video call program to find actors for his projects.
'Silver Linings Playbook' was nominated for a total of four awards -- in addition to Lawrence's nod, it is up for Best Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical, Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy Or Musical for Cooper and Best Screenplay for Russell.
Lawrence is also known as the star in the 'Hunger Games' film series. Taylor Swift just earned her first Golden Globe nomination for her contribution to the first movie's soundtrack.
