Sigourney Weaver, who played Dana Barrett in the 'Ghostbusters' films, has not been confirmed to appear in the third film, set to begin production in 2012.
The actress is also known for her role as Ellen Ripley in the 'Alien' movies. A favorite among sci-fi fans, Weaver has also voiced characters on the animated series 'Futurama' and the Disney-Pixar animated movie 'WALL-E' in 2008. She played the xenobotanist Grace in James Cameron's 2009 3D movie 'Avatar,' the most successful film of all time.
Weaver has showcased her comedic skills on screen as well. She and Jennifer Love Hewitt played a mother-daughter duo of con artists in the 2001 comedy film 'Heartbreakers.' Weaver also brought the laughs with her role as good-natured - and fertile - surrogacy specialist in the 2008 comedy film 'Baby Mama,' which starred Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Steve Martin.
In 2010, she appeared in the comedy movie 'You Again' with Kristen Bell, Jamie Lee Curtis and Betty White. In 2011, Weaver starred in the sci-fi comedy 'Paul' alongside Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Seth Rogen and filmed the romantic comedy film 'Vamps' with Alicia Silverstone. Weaver also appears in the thriller 'Abduction,' which stars 'Twilight' star Taylor Lautner and is due to hit theaters on Sept. 23, 2011.
Weaver has been married to first husband Jim Simpson since 1984. They have one daughter, Charlotte, who was born in April 1990.
