'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' cast, then and now

6 of 11: Edie McClurg, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, played Principal Rooney's secretary in 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' and famously noted that Ferris' peers consider him 'a righteous dude.' McClurg is one of the most recognizable character actresses, both in television and film.

She made her on-screen debut as Helen in the 1976 horror film 'Carrie.' In the 1980s, she appeared on sitcoms such as 'Small Wonder,' 'Valerie,' 'Diff'rent Strokes,' 'The Jeffersons' and 'Mr. Belvedere' and movies such as 'Back To School,' 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles' and 'Elvira: Mistress of the Dark.' She also provided the voice of Carlotta in Disney's 'The Little Mermaid.'

In the 1990s, the actress appeared on shows such as 'Seinfeld,' 'Full House,' 'Melrose Place,' 'Married With Children,' 'Caroline In the City' and 'Mad About You' and in films such as 'Airborne,' 'Natural Born Killers.' In the 2000, she was featured in shows such as 'Malcolm In the Middle,' 'Hannah Montana,' 'Desperate Housewives,' 'Days of Our Lives' and 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' and played Mrs. Beeker on '7th Heaven.'

She also starred in the movies 'Van Wilder,' and provided the voice of Milly in Disney-Pixar's 'Cars.' She portrays Mary in Disney's 2012 animated movie 'Wreck-It Ralph' and Gerda in the studio's 2013 animated movie 'Frozen.'
