'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' cast, then and now

2 of 11: Matthew Broderick played Ferris Bueller in the 1986 comedy film 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' and earned a Golden Globe nomination for his performance.

He would later go on to star in movies such as 'Glory' in 1989 and voiced the adult version of Simba the lion in the 1994 Disney film 'The Lion King.' He reprised his role in the sequels, 'The Lion King: Simba's Pride,' in 1998 and 'The Lion King 1 1/2' in 2004.

In 1996, Broderick appeared alongside Jim Carrey in the thriller 'The Cable Guy' and starred in the 1998 remake of 'Godzilla.' Broderick played a teacher in the 1999 comedy drama 'Election' alongside Reese Witherspoon and also starred as the quirky hero in the film adaptation of 'Inspector Gadget' that year as well.

Broderick is a veteran stage actor and appeared in a revival of Mel Brooks's hit Nazi-themed comedic Broadway musical 'The Producers' in 2001. He reprised his role in a film adaptation in 2005.

In the past five years, Broderick has appeared on shows such as '30 Rock,' 'Louie' and 'Modern Family.'

Broderick married actress Sarah Jessica Parker in 1997. They have a son, James, who was born in 2002. They also have two twin daughters, Marion and Tabitha, who were born on June 23, 2009 via a surrogate mother.
