Wil Wheaton was about 14 when he played Gordie in the 1986 film 'Stand By Me.' He went on to star as Wesley Crusher on 'Star Trek: The Next Generation,' between 1987 and 1994 and has appeared on shows such as 'The Guild' and 'Leverage' in 2009 and 2010.
Wheaton has also done extensive voice-over work. Between 2003 and 2005, he voiced characters in the animated series 'Teen Titans.'
Wheaton and his wife Anne have been married since 1999. She has two children from a previous relationship. Wheaton is also an author of books such as 'Sunken Treasure: Wil Wheaton's Hot Cocoa Box Sampler,' which was released in 2011.
Wheaton reprised his role as Wesley Crusher in a scene in 'Star Trek: Nemesis,' which was deleted from the final cut. He also voiced an alien in the 2009 'Star Trek' movie reboot.
Wheaton's character on 'Star Trek' was one of the most unpopular ones among the fans.
'I was surrounded every day by adults who I could relate to professionally, but not really personally ... I felt very lonely and very isolated,' Wheaton said in a 2010 interview with StarTrek.com. 'And I imagine that Wesley Crusher would have felt the same way and would have experienced a lot of the same feelings that I did. I think if the writers had spent some time exploring that it probably would have given Wesley some extra dimensions that would have made him appeal to a wider audience.'
