Football player Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson was arrested and charged with simple battery and misdemeanor domestic violence in Florida on Aug. 11, 2012 after his wife Evelyn Lozada told police he head-butted her after an argument.
She said the incident occurred in front of their Florida home after she confronted him about a receipt she found that showed a purchase for condoms. He told authorities that she was the one who head-butted him. He spent a night in jail and was released on Aug. 12, 2012.
Following the arrest, he was cut from the Miami Dolphins football team and his and Lozada's new VH1 reality show, 'Ev and Ocho,' was canceled, weeks before its Sept. 3, 2012 premiere.
Johnson was formerly charged with misdemeanor battery on Sept. 12, 2012 and pleaded not guilty at a Florida court the following day. On Sept. 21, 2012, he pleaded no contest to battery and was sentenced to one year of probation as part of a plea deal. He was also barred from contacting Lozada.
