David Arquette officially filed for divorce from estranged wife Courteney Cox on June 8, 2012, days before the star couple's 13th anniversary.
He and Cox had in October 2010 announced that they had 'agreed to a trial separation that dates back for some time,' adding that they remain 'best friends.' The two share a daughter, Coco, who turns 8 on June 13. Arquette is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the child and is not asking for spousal or child support.
The actor filed the divorce papers at a Los Angeles court on Friday, June 8. He had signed the documents on March 23 and lists irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. He noted in the papers that he and Cox separated officially on Dec 31, 2011.
Arquette and Cox had an Episcopal wedding ceremony at a San Francisco chapel on June 12, 1999. Their wedding guests included the actress' "Friends" co-stars Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and Jennifer Aniston, who attended when then-husband Brad Pitt.
Arquette had met Cox on the set of the 1996 horror film 'Scream.' They also co-starred in its sequels, including the 2011 film 'Scream 4.' After they separated, Arquette and Cox promoted the film together. They vacationed with their daughter and discussed their relationship and love lives on Howard Stern's X-rated and uncensored Sirius XM satellite radio show.
The actor also guest starred on COX's sitcom 'Cougar Town' during its recent third season.
'Thanks, Davy, for being on the show,' Cox said on her Twitter page on May 29. 'You were hysterical, as usual!! @davidarquette'
