Evelyn Lozada filed for divorce from football player Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson on Aug. 14, 2012 exactly 41 days after their wedding and just after a confrontation that resulted in him being arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. It was finalized on Sept. 19, 2012.
Lozada, who appears on the VH1 reality show 'Basketball Wives,' and Johnson married on July 4 and their wedding was filmed for a VH1 reality show, 'Ev and Ocho.' The cable network announced on Monday that the series was canceled in light of Johnson's arrest.
Lozada told police that he head-butted her in front of their Florida home on Saturday after the two argued over a drugstore receipt she had found that showed a purchase for condoms.
Johnson was booked on charges of simple battery and misdemeanor domestic violence and spent a night in jail before he was freed on Sunday. Lozada suffered a cut on her forehead and was hospitalized as a result of the incident, police said.
He apologized over the incident. On Sept. 21, 2012, he pleaded no contest to battery and was sentenced to one year of probation as part of a plea deal. He was also barred from contacting Lozada.
His career has already suffered a blow - following the incident, the Miami Dolphins cut Johnson from the football team. He had signed with them in June.
Lozada was previously engaged to NBA player Antoine Walker. She has a daughter, Shaneice, from a previous relationship. Johnson also has has four children of his own - Jicyra, Chad Johnson II, Chade and Cha'iel.
