Pallana's son, Dipak Pallana, announced the news on his Faceook page on Thursday, Oct. 10.
'Dear Papa, you will be missed. Kumar Pallana 12/23/18 - 10/10/2013,' the post reads.
Kumar often played supporting roles in Anderson's films like Pagoda in 'The Royal Tenenbaums,' Kumar in 'Bottle Rocket' and Mr. LittleJeans in 'Rushmore.'
Pallana also had roles in films like 'Viva Zapata,' 'The Terminal,' 'Duplex' and '10 Items of Less.'
Owen Wilson, who appeared with Pallana in films like 'The Royal Tenenbaums,' 'The Darjeeling Limited,' 'Rushmore' and 'Bottle Rocket,' talked about the actor's death during his appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' on Thursday.
Wilson said Pallana was 'just a great guy, had a great life and was performing right to the very end and we're gonna miss him a lot.'
According to a 2004 interview with Pallana by the Dallas Morning News, the actor was born in India and came to the United States in 1946. He eventually settled in Dallas in 1960 with his two children and wife, after a brief acting career, and later opened up a cafe called Cosmic Cup. Decades later Wilson and Anderson met Pallana at the cafe and cast him in their first film, 'Bottle Rocket.'
