143 of 192: Eric Sykes, a widely-acclaimed British comedy actor and writer, died at age 89 on Wednesday, July 4, according to the Associated Press.

Sykes died following a brief illness and was surrounded by his family, his manager told the Associated Press.

Sykes portrayed Muggle groundskeeper Frank Bryce at Riddle House in 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.' He is killed by Voldemort in the movie. He also appeared in 'The Others' opposite Nicole Kidman.

Sykes appeared in the 'Sykes and a' sitcom which ran in the 1960's and 1970's and co-wrote 24 episodes of the BBC radio comedy 'The Goon Show' with the late Spike Milligan.

Sykes was survived by his wife, Eith Eleanore Milbrandt, and his four children.
