42 of 186: Tony Martin, a romantic singer who appeared in movie musicals from the 1930s to the 1950s, died of natural causes on Friday, July 27, 2012, at his West Los Angeles home, his friend and accountant Beverly Scott said on Monday. The crooner was 98.

The performer had a vibrant career in records, television, and nightclubs during the Depression era and into the 21st century. The singer lived among the likes of Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby, and was regarded as a singer for the ladies due to his warm baritone voice.

The singer had a number of records, including 'I Get Ideas,' 'To Each His Own,' 'Begin the Beguine' and 'There's no Tomorrow.' The singer was also featured in 25 feature films, often cast as the romantic lead due to his charming appearance.

The actor was married to performer Cyd Charisse for 60 years, until her death in 2008. The actor is survived by his stepson, Nico Charisse.
