24 of 186: Joe South, who rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s with hits such as 'Games People Play' and 'Walk A Mile In My Shoes,' died after suffering a heart attack at his home in Buford, Georgia on Sept. 5, 2012. South was born in Atlanta on Feb. 28, 1940 and his real name was Joseph Alfred Souter. He worked as a session guitarist for artists such as Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan and Simon & Garfunkel and also wrote tracks for several singers. He is survived by a son, Craig, and a granddaughter.
