Rapper M-Bone of the hip hop group Cali Swag District was recently killed in a drive-by shooting in his hometown of Inglewood, California, police say.
M-Bone, whose real name was Mante Talbert, was 22 years old. His group achieved mainstream success with its 2010 hit "Teach Me How to Dougie" (see video - warning: contains explicit lyrics).
M-Bone was sitting in the driver's seat of a car in Inglewood, a southern Los Angeles neighborhood, on Sunday night when an unknown suspect pulled over near him and fired multiple shots at the rapper, who was struck twice in the head, a police spokesperson said in a statement obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com.
M-Bone was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. The motive and the suspect involved in the shooting are unknown and police are still investigating the incident.
M-Bone's spokesperson said in a statement that the rapper was "an inspiration to his family, friends and fans. He was a hardworking, passionate artist and dancer that will be deeply missed."
