Andy Rooney has died at age 92 after developing "serious complications" from "minor surgery" he had had undergone last month.
CBS announced on November 5 that the "60 Minutes" commentator who is known for his humorous and contentious television essays had passed away. The network did not reveal any details.
The veteran television personality had recently made headlines by announcing that he was leaving his job as a regular essayist on "60 Minutes," which has featured him on the show since 1978.
Rooney's wife of 62 years, Marguerite died in 2004 of heart failure. The couple had four children, Brian, Ellen and identical twins Emily and Martha.
