8 of 10:
Jewel has in recent years had cosmetic procedures done to fix her teeth. But her natural look did help her land her first on-screen acting role, in the 1999 movie 'Ride with the Devil,' by director Ang Lee.
'I asked Ang, 'Why Me? You could've had anyone you wanted,' Jewel told Shape magazine in 2010. 'And he said, 'You have period teeth.' So I got the job because I was the only actress in Hollywood who hadn't gotten her teeth fixed!'
The singer has poked fun at her crooked smile in the past, such as during a 2009 segment taped for the ABC show 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!.'
'People are always asking me, why don't I get my teeth fixed,' she says in the video. 'Well, I'm proud of my flaws and you should be too. Not only do I think my horrible snaggletooth is uniquely beautiful, it also comes in handy.
Jewel is then seen using her teeth to open a beer bottle, a can of soup and a bicycle lock and function as a 'Jaws of Life' to rip a car door out to save an accident survivor ... before stealing her stereo.
In the early summer of 2012, she had her teeth fixed temporarily while filming her role as singer June Carner Cash, wife of Johnny Cash, for a Lifetime Television biopic. Her rep said she would revert to her former look after production was over.
