Christina Applegate said in August 2008 that she had been diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. The actress, known for the shows 'Married With Children,' 'Samantha Who?' and NBC's 'Up All Night,' underwent a double mastectomy, or removal of both of her breasts, after tests detected cancer cells in one of them. She did not undergo radiation or chemotherapy treatments.
Applegate's mother, Nancy, is also a breast cancer survivor.
