Kirk Douglas turns 96 on Dec. 9, 2012. He was born Issur Danielovitch Demsky in Amsterdam, New York in 1916 and began his on-screen career in the 1940s. He is known for films such as 'Spartacus,' '20000 Leagues Under the Sea' and 'Paths of Glory.'
