Clint Eastwood is a Republican. He gave a speech at the Republican National Convention in Florida on Aug. 30, 2012 (watch the video) and talked to an empty chair, meaning it to refer to President Barack Obama. His joke spurred an "invisible Obama" trend on Twitter, and upstaged Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney at his own event.
Eastwood had endorsed Romney on August 3, during a fundraiser in Sun Valley, California.
'I think the country needs a boost,' he told the Associated Press. 'Now more than ever do we need Gov. Romney. I'm going to be voting for him.'
