Chris Klein rose to fame as jock Paul Metzler ('You Betzler!') in the 1999 movie 'Election' alongside Reese Witherspoon and played Chris 'Oz' Ostreicher in the first two 'American Pie' films. After 'American Pie 2' was released in 2001, Klein went on to star in the 2002 Mel Gibson movie 'We Were Soldiers' and appeared in the short-lived series 'Welcome to the Captain' in 2008.
He and Katie Holmes dated and were engaged until 2005. That year, she married Tom Cruise.
Also in 2005, Klein pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge in San Diego. He was fined $1,800 and ordered to perform 150 hours of community service. In September 2010, Klein pleaded no contest to drunk driving. He spent four days in jail and was ordered to serve four years of probation and take alcohol education classes for 18 months.
Klein made headlines in May 2010 when an online video of him singing ABBA songs, in what was labeled an audition for the 2008 film 'Mamma Mia!,' surfaced and went viral. Klein later countered with a parody video on the comedy website Funny or Die.
Klein appeared in the first season of the FX comedy 'Wilfred' opposite Elijah Wood in 2011. He is set to appear in the the movie 'Sam' with 'My Girl' actress Anna Chlumsky.
