Even though William Hung did not make it to 'American Idol,' no one can forget his season three audition: an off-key rendition of 'She Bangs' by Ricky Martin, which gained him widespread attention.
His audition on 'Idol' landed him a record deal and surprisingly, he became the third best-selling singer from that season. Hung also appeared on television commercials, including ads for the search engine Ask Jeeves, Jack In the Box restaurants, and Cingular Wireless. Hung also made appearances on TV shows such as 'The George Lopez Show,' and 'Arrested Development.' In 2005, Hung appeared in a Hong Kong based film named 'Where is Mama's Boy?'
Hung was also the subject of an hour-and-a-half long documentary, 'Hangin' With Hung,' about his sudden rise in fame.
You may think that Hung's 15 minutes of fame were over after his 2004 Christmas album release, but in an interview with Hollywood Life at the 'American Idol' finale in 2010, Hung noted that he has been 'performing live everywhere,' although the news section of his personal website has not been updated since 2008. In the end, we will have to take his word.
