7 of 31: Season 3 finalist Jennifer Hudson, though eliminated during the show's top 7, has gone on to become one of the most successful 'American Idol' contestants to-date.

After being eliminated from the show, Hudson went onto audition and star as Effie White in the film adaptation of the musical 'Dreamgirls,' which also starred Beyonce Knowles, Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy. The role catapulted Hudson to superstardom and earned her universal praise from critics, ultimately receiving an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, among numerous other honors. In addition to 'Dreamgirls,' Hudson's film credits include the film adaptation of 'Sex and the City' and 'The Secret Life of Bees' and television roles including a guest spot on the now-canceled NBC show 'Smash' and the Lifetime TV movie 'Call Me Crazy: A Five Film.'

In addition to her acting career, Hudson has released two studio albums, including her self-titled debut in 2008 and 'I Remember Me' in 2011. Hudson is also an ambassador for Weight Watchers, where in 2011 she went from a size 16 to a size 6 through diet and exercise. Hudson is also engaged to WWE wrestler and Harvard Law graduate David Otunga and together welcomed a son, David Daniel Otunga, Jr. in 2009.
