20 of 31: Considered the front-runner throughout season 8 of 'American Idol,' Adam Lambert came in second behind Kris Allen and has enjoyed much success following his run on the show.

Lambert released his first studio album, 'For Your Entertainment,' in November 2009, debuting at number three on the Billboard 200 albums chart. He performed his first single, also titled 'For Your Entertainment,' at the 2009 American Music Awards on ABC, which caused controversy over Lambert, who is openly gay, kissing a male member of his band. He went onto release the hit single 'Whataya Want from Me' and released a new album titled 'Trespassing' in 2012, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart, becoming the first openly gay artist to achieve such a feat.

Despite his success as a recording artist, in July 2013, Lambert told The Hollywood Reporter he would be leaving his record label, RCA Records, due to 'creative differences' regarding his next album, which the label wanted to be an all-covers album. Rumors also began to circulate that Lambert was in consideration to become a judge on 'Idol' following a judging panel shakeup for season 13 in 2014. It was also announced in July 2013 that Lambert would be joining the cast of 'Glee' when it returns for a fifth season in fall 2013.
