Taylor Hicks was named the winner of the fifth season of 'American Idol,' thanks to a unique look and sound and an army of fans dubbed the 'Soul Patrol.'
Hicks' first single following the show, 'Do I Make You Proud,' came in at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, followed by a number two debut for his first self-titled record in 2006. Hicks went on to record and release two more records, including 'Early Works' in 2008 and 'The Distance' in 2009. In 2008, Hicks joined the Broadway production of 'Grease,' playing the role of Teen Angel. Hicks also penned an autobiography titled 'Heart Full of Soul,' which was published by Random House.
In 2012, it was announced that Hicks signed on for a long-term Las Vegas residency at Bally's Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. In 2013, he signed a year-long extension to perform his show at the larger Paris Las Vegas venue in addition to performing at various Caesars Entertainment properties across the country.
