'Full House' patriarch and neat freak Danny Tanner was played by Bob Saget. After his days on 'Full House,' Saget continued to appear on television and also continued performing stand-up comedy.
Saget hosted 'America's Funniest Home Videos' between 1987 and 1997. Daisy Fuentes and John Fugelsang took over his duties before Tom Begeron joined the series in 2001 was made the show's regular host.
Saget has appeared on shows such as 'Raising Dad' and 'Surviving Suburbia' and narrates the sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother,' which debuted in 2005.
Saget played himself, as a hooker-loving, pot-smoking playboy, on several episodes of the HBO series 'Entourage' between 2005 and 2010. He also made a cameo as a cocaine addict in the 1998 stoner film 'Half Baked.'
It is his dry sense of humor and contrast between his real-life persona and his 'good guy' 'Full House' character that makes Saget a favorite in the stand-up comedy world. He has performed all over the United States and occasionally makes surprise appearances at Los Angeles comedy clubs.
He remains friends with his 'Full House' co-stars, especially John Stamos. The two often Tweet messages to one another. Saget also references 'Full House' in his act and even penned a parody song called 'Danny Tanner Was Not Gay' to the tune of the Backstreet Boys song, 'I Want It That Way.' (see video)
Saget has suffered tragedy in his personal life. His sister, Gay, died of scleroderma at the age of 42, prompting him to make a TV movie, 'For Hope' (1996), based on her life and struggle with the disease. His other sister, Andrea, passed away from an aneurysm at the age of 34.
Saget married Sherri Kramer Saget in May 1982. The two divorced in November 1997. They are parents to three daughters - twins Aubrey and Lara Melanie, born in October 1989 and Jennifer Belle, born in November 1992.
