3 of 10: The ABC Television network said in a shocking announcement on April 14, 2011 that it planned to air the final episodes of long-running soap operas ''All My Children' and 'One Life To Live.' The shows debuted more than 40 years ago.

'We're bummed,' former 'All My Children' cast member Mark Consuelos told OnTheRedCarpet.com.

He played Mateo, the on-screen love interest of Hayley Vaughan. She was portrayed by Kelly Ripa, who later became Consuelos' wife (See other famous 'All My Children' alumni).

'All My Children' cast member Susan Lucci said she had a 'fantastic journey' on the show but criticized the decision to cancel it in an epilogue for the newest paperback edition of her book 'All My Life: A Memoir.'

A development deal was struck to produce additional episodes of the programs, but talks stalled.

'All My Children aired its final episode on Sept. 23, 2011. The finale of 'One Life To Live' is set to air on Jan. 13, 2012.
