In February 2012, Robert Dewey Hoskins, who was convicted of stalking and making criminal threats against Madonna in 1996, escaped from a Los Angeles-area mental hospital and was apprehended by local authorities a week later.
He was committed to the Metropolitan State Hospital in 2011 and previously served a 10-year prison sentence after he was convicted of stalking the pop superstar. The singer reluctantly testified against the man, who was shot by her personal security after he jumped the fence of her Hollywood Hills home.
