Zara Phillips, Queen's granddaughter, engaged to rugby player Mike Tindall
Zara Phillips, Queen Elizabeth II's oldest granddaughter, recently became engaged to boyfriend Mike Tindall, a rugby player in the United Kingdom.
The 29-year-old is the 12th in line to the throne. She and Tindall, 32, met in 2003 during at the Rugby World Cup in Australia, which was won by England.
The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Zara Phillips to Mr. Mike Tindall," a message on the British Monarchy's Twitter page read, referring to Princess Anne, the Queen's only daughter, and her former husband, an Olympic gold medal-winning equestrian.
"I was really shocked when Mike proposed but I am very happy," BBC quoted Phillips as saying in a statement. Prince William, who is second in line to the throne, and Kate Middleton announced their own engagement last month and are set to marry in April 2011.
