Zach Galifianakis, who plays an eccentric road trip buddy who squabbles with Robert Downey Jr.'s character in the new comedy film "Due Date", says he is attracted to "annoying people" in real life.

In the film, which has made more than $33.5 million in the United States since it was released on November 5, Downey Jr. plays a man who wants to hurry back to his wife before she gives birth to their first child.

Galifianakis' character, who carries along a dog, travels with him on a long road trip home and drives him crazy.

"I'm attracted to annoying people," Galifianakis told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "I just think they're funny. I have a friend that is ... highly annoying but incredibly entertaining so I've always been attracted to those kind of people. Obnoxious but also innocent, not just being a jerk."

Galifianakis, who is also a comedian, starred in shows such as "Tru Calling" with Eliza Dushku and the spoof news show "Dog Bites Man" before he caught his big break in the hit comedy film The Hangover, which is directed by "Due Date"'s Todd Phillips.

Downey Jr. has said jokingly that he was prepared to "punch" Galifianakis when he first met him.
