Zac Efron's romance film lands a director
Zac Efron's upcoming romance thriller has landed a director. According to The Hollywood Reporter, commercial and music video director Fredrik Bond will helm the untitled project starring the former "High School Musical" actor.
In the film, which was originally titled "The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman," Efron is set to play an ordinary American guy who travels abroad to Eastern Europe and falls in love with a young woman with a dangerous ex that has ties to the criminal underworld.
Efron recently filmed "The Lucky One," based off the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name. The actor buzzed off his famous hair and bulked up for his role in the film, where he plays a marine that survived three tours of duty in Iraq.
The actor also has a cameo role in the upcoming film "New Year's Eve" with Jessica Biel, Katherine Heigl, Jon Bon Jovi, Lea Michele, Sofia Vergara, Hilary Swank, Ashton Kutcher, Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer.
Vanessa Hudgens told Details magazine in their March issue that her and ex-boyfriend and "High School Musical" co-star Efron are "figuring things out."
"We're still friends," Hudgens told Details magazine. "Who knows what the future will bring."
