The film is the latest in several cartoon series-to-film adaptations that include the Alvin and the Chipmunks and Scooby Doo franchises, which also feature similar animation. Yogi Bear stars comedy veteran Dan Aykroyd as picnic basket-loving Yogi Bear and singer and actor Justin Timberlake as his sidekick Boo-Boo Bear.

The movie, which is set to be released on December 17, also features Anna Faris of The House Bunny and the Scary Movie franchise and Nathan Corddry of the Showtime United States of Tara.

The film, whose tag-line reads "You don't get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies," is set for release on October 1.

Timberlake is currently filming the comedy movie Friends with Benefits, which stars Mila Kunis, Emma Stone and Woody Harrelson and also plans to shoot the horror film Wrath of Job.

He was recently said to have been involved in talks to replace Simon Cowell as a judge on American Idol, but the reports were later denied.

The series is undergoing an apparent shake-up and as of July 30, it has been reported Kara DioGuardi will not return as a judge on the upcoming 10th season, while Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and singer Jennifer Lopez will likely join the show. Ellen Degeneres' confirmed her departure on Thursday, Cowell left at the end of the May finale and Paula Abdul departed the series last year.
