'X-Men: First Class' trailer is released (Video)
"X-Men: First Class," the new movie prequel to the hit Marvel comic book series about mutant superheroes, is set to hit theaters on June 3 and its trailer was recently released.
The film tells of how Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr were once friends and how they later turned into Professor X, who ends up leading the "X-Men" in a fight against evil, and his adversary, Magneto. The movie is directed by Matthew Vaughn, known for movies such as "Stardust" and "Kick-Ass."
James McAvoy plays Professor X, while Magneto is portrayed by Michael Fassbender. Among the other cast members are Jennifer Lawrence, who is nominated for an Oscar for her role in "Winter's Bone" and plays the shape-shifting mutant Mystique and Kevin Bacon, who portrays the villain Sebastian Shaw.
January Jones of "Mad Men" is Emma Frost, Kevin Bacon is Sebastian Shaw, Zoe Kravitz is Angel Salvador and Rose Byrne is Dr. Moira MacTaggert. Nicholas Hoult plays Beast, Jason Flemyng is Azazel, Lucas Till is Havok, Oliver Platt is Man in Black and Edi Gathegi of "Twilight" fame portrays Darwin.
A recent film trilogy depicting the present-day "X-Men" featured Patrick Stewart of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" as Professor X and Ian McKellen as Magento and also starred Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry.
