Will Ferrell signs on to guest star on four episodes of 'The Office'
Will Ferrell has signed up for a four-episode arc of "The Office" where he will star alongside his "AnchorMan" co-star and friend Steve Carell.
According to Deadline, Farrell will play an "inappropriate" branch manager from the company's home office. The site reports that Farrell will stick around for at least one episode after Carell's character Michael Scott departs from the series.
Carell announced last year that the seventh season of the show would be his last and that his character would make an exit before the show's season finale.
Last week it was announced that "The Office" creator Ricky Gervais would appear briefly in a cameo appearance on Thursday's episode. Gervais will be reprising the role of David Brent, which he played in the original British version that he helped create, according to The Associated Press. Brent is the smart-aleck paper salesman who inspired Steve Carell's character of Michael Scott.
Show-runner Paul Lieberstein tells the Vulture, It's a little more than if you blink, you'll miss it, but if you don't set your TiVo right, you'll miss it." Of the scene he says, "It's outside of the office, and it's just the two of them interacting. It's just a little nod to Steve and his final year."
