Wesley Snipes loses appeal in tax case, headed for jail
07/20/2010 by Corinne Heller
Wesley Snipes has lost an appeal of a three-year prison sentence for failing to file income tax returns between 1999 and 2001 after a court recently upheld his 2008 conviction, and the actor appears to be headed for jail.
Prosecutors have said Snipes, who is free on bail, owed $2.7 million in back taxes that he refused to pay. The actor has apologized, saying he was "unschooled in the science of law and finance".
The Blade actor, who is free on bail, claimed that the sentence was unreasonable and he should have been considered for probation. It is unclear when he is set to report for jail.
