03/05/2012 by Corinne Heller

Vanessa Minnillo, aka Vanessa Lachey, and Nick Lachey are expecting their first child.

Nick Lachey, a 38-year-old former 98 Degrees singer, announced the news on the ABC show "LIVE! with Kelly," which he guest-hosted with Kelly Ripa on Monday, March 5. Vanessa Lachey, 31, is set to give birth this fall.

She and Nick Lachey have been married since July 2011. His ex-wife, Jessica Simpson, is also pregnant with her first baby.

"Congratulations to @VanessaLachey and @NickSLachey!!! #LivewithKelly," said a message posted on the show's Twitter feed.

Vanessa Lachey rose to fame as an MTV personality and co-hosted the ABC competition series "Wipeout" last year. She describes herself on her Twitter profile as a "Host by day, Wifey by night, Wanna-be Mommy all the time."

Nick Lachey told OnTheRedCarpet.com in mid-June 2011: "We want to have a family and we're very excited about that, so I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't take too long. At least that's my hope. I'm getting up there. I gotta start pumping them out."

Vanessa Lachey had told OnTheRedCarpet.com around the same time, before their wedding, that the two wanted to "start having babies" after she filmed "Wipeout" in September 2011.

The two dating on and off for about three years before they announced their engagement in November 2010. They went public with their relationship soon after she appeared in his music video "What's Left of Me," which was released in 2006. The clip depicts Nick Lachey's marriage and divorce to Simpson, who is played by Vanessa Lachey.

Nick Lachey and Simpson were married between 2002 and 2006. The 31-year-old pop singer, who is also a cast member of the new NBC show "Fashion Star," is currently expecting her first baby with fiance Eric Johnson. She joked in a recent interview with Us Weekly that she felt like a "big blob."

She and Nick Lachey starred on the MTV reality show "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica," which documented their married life together. His and his current wife's wedding was also televised, as part of a TLC network special.
