Vanessa Hudgens reveals she gave herself a 'soccer mom' haircut for film
Vanessa Hudgens shocked fans when photos of her dramatic make under for the film "Gimme Shelter" surfaced earlier this week. However, Hudgens explains in a new interview that the shock of cutting off her own hair for a scene in the film has not worn off.
"It's really intense. I'm still getting used to it," Hudgens told Access Hollywood about her new haircut, which she revealed she cut herself.
While filming a scene for "Gimme Shelter," Hudgens said, "I grabbed the scissors and started cutting my actual hair and then my director [Ron Krauss] decided that he was going to grab the scissors, he grabs a chunk of my hair and just chops it."
"I miss [my hair,] believe me, I do, but there's nothing I can do about it," she said.
Hudgens also said she is not really a fan of the shorter cut. "Honestly, I kind of feel like a soccer mom, but we're going to let that go," she told the entertainment show. "There's nothing wrong with soccer moms, but I'm only 22!"
In the movie, the actress plays a pregnant teenager who leaves her abusive mother's home to look for her biological father (Brendan Fraser) who works on Wall Street and urges her to get an abortion. When she refuses, she is forced to live on the streets. The film also stars Rosario Dawson.
Hudgens was recently photographed wearing a short wig, a neck tattoo and piercings on her lip and nose while shooting in Newark, New Jersey. The slender actress finished the look with baggy jeans and a shapeless T-shirt (See a photo).
"I have been so stupidly busy working on 'Gimme Shelter.' I'm so excited and proud of the work I've been doing and let me tell you, you all are going to be SHOCKED with how I look in this movie," Hudgens wrote on her official Facebook page. "It's crazy sauce... only one more week of shooting till I'm done!"
Hudgens recently appeared in Candie's apparel's new fall 2011 ad campaign, looking more like herself. See photos of the campaign.
In March, the actress was romantically linked to "The Kids Are All Right" actor Josh Hutcherson. The two will appear in the upcoming film "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island," which is slated for release on September 23 and also stars Kristin Davis of "Sex and the City" and Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson.
