Val Kilmer owes nearly $500K to IRS, is still trying to sell New Mexico ranch (Photos)
Val Kilmer reportedly owes nearly $500,000 in taxes and the Internal Revenue Service has placed a lien on his property, including a New Mexico ranch that he has been trying to sell for about a year.
The actor, who turns 51 on Friday and who has starred in movies such as "Top Gun," "MacGruber" and "Willow," has not commented on the matter, which was reported by the Associated Press. He owed a similar amount last year and reportedly settled his debt.
Kilmer put up his New Mexico ranch for sale for $33 million in 2009, while the price has recently dropped to $18.5 million. The real estate market has suffered amid one of the United States' worst economic disasters in decades.
The property is located about 30 miles away from Santa Fe and Kilmer operates it as a bed and breakfast. It contains a log house and a guest residence with seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms in total. Several natural springs and hiking and riding trails are located on its grounds.
Kilmer has been keeping busy with a variety of on-screen projects and recently filmed movies such as "5 Days of August" with Andy Garcia and Dean Cain, the crime drama "Blood Out" with "90210" actress AnnaLynne McCord and hip hop star 50 Cent and the mafia film "Kill the Irishman" with Christopher Walken.
