Trace Adkins releases new album, 'Proud To Be Here,' after home fire
Trace Adkins has just released his 10th studio album, "Proud To Be Here," and performed its single "Just Fishin' on NBC's "Today" Show, weeks after a fire destroyed his family home.
"Proud To Be here" hit stores on Tuesday, August 2. A deluxe version of the album contains a bonus track called "If I Was a Woman," which features fellow county singer and reality star Blake Shelton.
The single "Just Fishin'" was released in March and hit No. 12 on the U.S. County Songs Chart and 69 on the Hot 100 Singles Chart last week. Trinity, 6, appears in its music video and is the last of his three daughters to be featured in one of his clips.
In June, Adkins, 49, suffered a tragedy - a fire destroyed his family home in Brentwood, Tennessee. The country singer, his wife Rhonda, their daughters and their two Australian shepherd puppies, Daisy and Bella, were unhurt. With the help of a neighbor, Adkins' 9-year-old daughter Briana helped rescue the dogs from the burning house.
"Everybody's doing well," Adkins said on the "Today" show. "My girls were very resilient, as most kids are, and they're adjusting well. They're very brave young ladies. I'm very proud of them. We dodge d a bullet on that one. We're lucky to be here."
Brianna appeared in Adkins' music video "Ladies Love Country Boys," which was released in 2006. Mackenzie, who is 13 and is his eldest child, starred in Adkins' 2000 clip "More." (See videos below)
Adkins' duet with Shelton is one of four bonus tracks on the deluxe version of "Proud To Be Here."
Shelton has gained a slew of new fans thanks to his participation in the NBC series "The Voice." He and fellow music artists Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine serve as judges on the singing contest series, which debuted this year.
Adkins has also dabbled in reality television, appearing on Donald Trump's NBC show "The Celebrity Apprentice." He placed second during the seventh season in 2007, losing to television personality Piers Morgan.
Adkins has sold more than 8.3 million copies of his albums in the United States. His 2010 record "Cowboy's Back in Town" reached the No. 5 position on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart.
