Tom Jones was forced to cancel a concert in Monaco after the singer was hospitalized with "severe dehydration," according to a statement on his website posted on August 28.

"Sir Tom was ordered by doctors not to perform in Monte Carlo yesterday evening, due to severe dehydration," the statement said. "This was the last date of a very successful 3 month tour, where many of the shows were in locations that were in the throes of high summer heat."

The statement also denied reports that the singer had heart problems, "There are NO heart problems, as has been reported in the press."

"Sir Tom wants to relay his deep regrets for causing disappointment and inconvenience to all who would have come to enjoy his show last night," the statement continued. "He thanks everyone for their understanding and support, and hopes to see the fans in Monte Carlo again soon."

Jones, 71, was born in Whales and is known for hits like "It's Not Unusual," "What's New Pussycat" and "Sex Bomb." He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2006.

Saturday's canceled show was to have been the finale of his 3-month "Praise & Blame" tour.

Jones was admitted to the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco Saturday night and was doing well Sunday, according to the Associated Press. It is not yet known when Jones would be released.

The singer reportedly plans a short tour of central and eastern Europe beginning in November.
