Tom Hanks signs on for 'Cloud Atlas' movie?
Tom Hanks is set to star in the sci-fi film "Cloud Atlas," which is set for release in May 2012, a report says.
The film is based on a 2004 book by David Mitchell. It consists six interconnected stories, including that of a journalist who investigates alleged corruption at a nuclear power plant in 1975 and a tribesman living a primitive life in a post-apocalyptic future.
The actor's spokesperson had no immediate comment on the report by Deadline.com. Filming is set to begin in September and Hanks, 54, has been tapped to play Henry Goose, a "surgeon to the London nobility," casting lists show.
Lana and Andy Wachowski, who penned the script for "The Matrix" trilogy, are writing the screenplay for "Cloud Atlas." They are also set to direct the new film with Tom Tykwer, who helmed "Run, Lola, Run."
Meanwhile, Hanks is set to appear on "30 Rock" later this year and finished shooting the comedy drama film "Larry Crowne" with Julia Roberts and Bryan Cranston. The movie is set for release on July 1.
