Tom Cruise to star in 'Mission: Impossible 5' (Poll)

Get ready for more Ethan Hunt and some death-defying stunts -- Tom Cruise will reprise his role as the special agent in a fifth "Mission: Impossible" film

No director, writer or official title for the new movie has been revealed yet, according to Paramount Pictures, which announced the news in a statement obtained by OTRC.com on Tuesday, May 7.

Cruise, 50, is set to develop and produce the movie with Paramount Pictures, Skydance Productions and Bad Robot, the production company of J.J. Abrams, who also co-produced the previous installment, "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," which was released in 2011 and also starred Jeremy Renner and Paula Patton. It is unclear if they will return for the fifth movie.

All four past "Mission: Impossible" films have made more than $2 billion worldwide. Here is the breakdown:

    1. "Mission: Impossible" (1996) - $457.6 million worldwide ($180.9 million in North America)

    2. "Mission: Impossible II" (2000) - $546.3 million worldwide ($215.4 million in North America)

    3. "Mission: Impossible III" (2006) - $397.8 million worldwide ($134 million in North America)

    4. "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" (2011) - $694.7 million worldwide ($209.3 million in North America)
