Tim Gunn disses Lady Gaga's meat dress, Taylor Momsen
Tim Gunn of the fashion reality series Project Runway is not impressed with the meat dress Lady Gaga wore at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards and also slammed actress Taylor Momsen for the way he said she acted on the set of Gossip Girl, which features him as a guest star this season.
"It's a costume of the craziest kind," Gunn recently said of the singer's outfit on the talk show Lopez Tonight. "It's shock value, pure and simple.""While I respect Lady Gaga and her work, I want to say, 'You know, we've been here before,'" Gunn said. "There was never a more profound fashion revolution than the 1960s. We have the clear, plastic vinyl dress. We have the paper dress. We have the micro miniskirt. We have people practically nude at events, so Lady, it's been done. Be more creative."
Gunn guest-stars as himself on an upcoming October episode of the CW teen series Gossip Girl, which recently began its fourth season, and called the experience "an exercise in incredible self-discipline" because he said actress Taylor Momsen, 17, spent too much time on her phone. She has not commented.
"If you weren't Blackberrying, you could memorize these lines," he said. "We were doing a different take for every single line that she had and she acted annoyed at the crew and the director and the producer. I thought, 'The annoyance is going your way, not the other way.'"
"If you're so unhappy here, there must be thousands of people who are as attractive as you and as talented as you who would like to have your role," he added.
Kate Walsh of the medical drama Private Practice channeled Lady Gaga by appearing on The Tonight Show on Thursday night in a dress decorated with sushi and sashimi pieces.
