Thomas Ian Nicholas: 'American Reunion' is the closest I'll get to a high school reunion

04/05/2012 by Olivia Allin

Thomas Ian Nicholas didn't attend his own high school reunion, since he never attended school off-set, but the actor was happy to reunite with his co-stars in "American Reunion."

"This is the closest thing that I will ever experience to a high school reunion," Nicholas told OnTheRedCarpet.com at the film's premiere. "I've been acting since I was six years old, so my schooling was all done on set. So you saw my high school experience, it was called 'American Pie 1.'"

The actor got his start as a child actor, appearing in the films "Rookie of the Year" and "A Kid in King Arthur's Court."

Thomas Ian Nicholas played Kevin Myers in the past three major "American Pie" films and will reprise his role in the upcoming installment of the popular franchise, "American Reunion."

The movie, which hits theaters on April 6, sees the characters attending their high school reunion. It stars other past cast members such as main star Jason Biggs, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari, Shannon Elizabeth, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Natasha Lyonne, Chris Owen, Jennifer Coolidge and Alyson Hannigan.

"This was really the first time that the whole cast has been reunited since the second one," Nicholas said of the flick. "The first thing that happened was like, the surrealness of it, just standing in a room with everyone and being like, 'Wow, this is so weird. We're all a little bit older but I feel like I'm 18 again.'"

When asked what the audience will get from "American Reunion," the actor quipped, "Those raunchy sex jokes. That's what we give people."

Nicholas and his wife Colette welcomed their first child, Nolan River on October 20.

The 31-year-old "American Pie" actor married the singer and songwriter known as DJ Colette in 2007. Their Nolan River weighed in at 7 lbs, 4 oz. and 20 inches long, following 15 hours of labor.

"The first thing that Nolan did when he entered the world was grab one of the doctor's tools out of his hands," Nicholas told People. "We might just have a future doctor in our midst!"

Following the success of the comedy franchise, Nicholas had guest parts on television shows like "Medium" and "Grey's Anatomy" and starred in several small films, including the 2010 political movie "The Chicago 8."

Earlier in the year, Nicholas toured in Europe with his rock group, Thomas Nicholas Band.
